my healing journey

I was always a sickly child which eventually followed me into my adulthood.  I suffered from allergies to postnasal drip to excruciating menstrual cycles. I would catch whatever cold/virus that lingered and never questioned why.  My diet growing up was the Standard American Diet (SAD)/Puerto Rican Diet. Translation: lots of meat, rice and not a vegetable in sight.  As I got older and started paying more attention to the types of foods I ate, I realized that there was a direct connection between what I was putting into my body and how my body reacted to it. The better the fuel, the better the performance.

I slowly started to add more fruits and vegetables while eliminating meat and dairy.  I became a runner training for marathons as well as a lover of yoga. I thought I was making great strides in my diet and health when my stomach issues began.  I would feel bloated and full all the time, no matter how little I ate.  The pain in my upper stomach was sometimes unbearable and eventually I would have to purge or eliminate just to feel better. I would also wake up with vertigo so severe I couldn't walk.  And headaches that would linger for days.

After countless doctor visits and invasive procedures, nothing was found wrong with me. The doctors said it was irritable bowel syndrome/acid reflux and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. The typical/vague ‘take these two pills and call me in the morning’ response. Never really addressing the root cause, simply the symptoms.  I wasn’t satisfied with this, so I became a wellness detective and started to eliminate all processed foods and focus solely on a raw fruits and vegetables diet. I learned that the body is an amazing machine that can heal itself when given the proper tools and information.  I also became certified as a Detoxification Specialist and studied the benefits of herbs and natural healing.  After a few months of active detoxing, my stomach was back to normal and working even better than ever. The vertigo and headaches have also improved. I am thankful for my healing journey because it has made me passionate to share what I’ve learned with others.

Daily Detox
Detoxing is the process of abstaining from or ridding the body of toxins or unhealthy substances. Our bodies are bombarded with toxins every day from the air we breathe, foods we eat, the water we drink, the products we use on our skin/hair and even the thoughts we think. All leading to diseases and chronic ailments.  But the good news is that there are ways to heal your body, get more energy and be the best version of yourself possible.  Detoxing is not only a physical process but an emotional one as well.  When you put quality food into your body, you function on a higher level which opens up the channels to a higher level of thinking, passion and purpose.

My approach to daily detoxing is simple:  start slow, be patient and have fun.  I’m not about a quick fix. I’m not focused on helping you lose 10 pounds in a week.  And I don’t believe you can detox in three days.  I work with people who are serious about making lifestyle changes. As Dr. Mark Hyman likes to say, so many of us are suffering from the FLC syndrome (Feel Like Crap) and I’m here to help you live your best life.

My detox coaching services include: customized meal plans, weekly check-ins via phone, Skype or email, grocery store visits, cooking demos, simple relaxation techniques, yoga classes, movie nights and more. Every person is unique and will need less/more help in certain areas, which is why my program is flexible and caters to your needs.
