Earlier this week, for Random Act of Kindness Wednesday, I donated to the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library. I found out via their Facebook page that there was going to be a rally held in South Miami today to save the libraries. So Alex grabbed his camera and I got my home-made sign and we headed down South.
When we arrived, there were over 50 people standing in inclement weather holding signs, umbrellas and noise makers urging residents to contact their commissioners to reconsider their decision of eliminating over 22 libraries in Miami-Dade County.
It was such an awesome experience to see people of all walks of life come together to fight for such a worthy cause. Alex took some amazing photos that I just had to share.
OM the moment for your mind and save your library! All it takes is a tweet, email, phone call or message on Facebook to your commissioner (find yours here) to make sure that our intellectual liberty is preserved. Your voice counts.
If you would like to participate in a rally, there are others being organized. Be sure to 'like' the Friends of Miami-Dade Library Facebook page for more information.
