My mom sent me an email the other day from Dress Barn encouraging women to bring in a new or slightly used suit or suit separate to benefit the charity Dress For Success. This incredible organization believes that ‘one woman, one suit and one job can save the world.’ The professional clothing, employment retention programs and ongoing support that they provide women symbolizes their faith in every woman's ability to be self-sufficient and successful in her career.
I’m lovin’ this idea. I’m sure we all have a suit that we bought and maybe wore once because it no longer fits or you just don’t have a need for it. Get that baby out of your closet and into the hands of someone who really needs it.
So for today’s Random Act of Kindness (RAOK), I’ve collected clothes from co-workers and friends and plan to drop them off at my nearest Dress Barn. I've also cleaned out my closet and plan to give away plenty of suits that I no longer wear. I'm going to try to sneak in some kindness cards in the pockets. Shhhh.... :)
Want to join in on the fun? All you have to do is email this link to your gal pals and ask them to donate some clothes, collect the goods and drop them off. It's that easy. To find a Dress Barn near you, click here.
And guys, just because you can’t donate any of your suits, doesn’t mean you can’t encourage some ladies to donate. Get in on the fun.
Let me know how your Random Act of Kindness Wednesday has been. Did you make a strangers day? Do you plan to do something in the future? I want to hear about it. Leave me your stories, comments or thoughts below.
